Tutorial - How to Add More Volume to Inner Arc on Lamina
A few people have inquired how to increase the volume of the cup along the inner arc only. Less obvious on a darted cup pattern like the Lamina, we’ll walk you through it in ONE step!
First, lets talk about “inner arc”. Inner arc is the horizontal hemisphere between the sternum and nipple. This is particularly important as some of us are built with more volume in this area and without adjustment, can lead to “popping out” during the most inopportune times.
Always remove all seam allowance when working with darts.
Begin with the smaller, horizontal dart. You will notice that the dart is ever-so-slightly curved. To give your girls a bit more room, simply increase the curvature. When you are drawing the new curve, you’ll want to keep most of the curve near the point and taper out to almost straight near the wireline.
True up the new dart by walking the seamlines then add the seam allowance back on. Done!
***Note, while this adjustment does increase the volume slightly, it does NOT increase it a full cup.
