BRAugust Day 28 - Fantasy Project

Finally finished this UFO project that has been sitting on my desk for months - just in time for Day 28 of #BRAugust - Fantasy Project! This is my fantasy project as it ticks all of the requirements:

  • Nursing Access

  • Pretty/Sexy

  • Lightweight and breathable

  • Fakes a small(er) waist and smoother silouette

It’s a tall order - (how many “sexy” or even just “pretty” nursing bras have you seen in stores or online?) but this bra does all of that and more. Details below.

PATTERN

This is the Labellum bra pattern with my “usual” adjustments. Grading the BCD down to 4.0” and narrowing the center gore [tutorial HERE]. I probably should have taken out a wedge from the side seam for my torso shape but its wearable as-is. No other pattern mods.

FABRICS & CONSTRUCTION

This bra used the last 20” or so of my Autumn Bliss Embroidered Lace from Europe. It wasn’t quite enough for the cups so I supplemented with black bra tulle for the powerbar and cradle. Think it worked rather well and will likely use this lace maximizing trick again. Bra is lined with a brown sheer cup lining and jacquard powernet for the back wings. Sheer cup lining is great in our 99°F (37°C) summers - supportive and lightweight while being very breathable.

This longline version of the Labellum hits my natural waist (one nice thing about being short-waisted!) so the combination of the wide plush elastic and boning really creates some nice curves on my cylindrical torso. Its like wearing a bra + shapewear in one! Of course, since I am nursing, I had to add the internal sling + nursing clips for access.
