TUTORIAL - Longline Bras, High Tummies and Protruding Bellies, Oh My!

A quick 2 step tutorial on how to adjust the longline cradle for a protruding belly. Many of us (myself included) shy away from longline bras for a myriad of reasons from mum tum to acid reflux or simply due to body shape (perceived or otherwise). A longline CAN be comfortable and not cut in by modifying the pattern to FIT your body rather than mold it.

Check out our tester who was 7 months pregnant and pleasantly surprised at the support of a wireless longline. The boning is * key * and quite comfortable due to the strategically placed seams.

Now, its time to grab your Longline Cradle Pattern piece, a ruler and pencil to get started!

STEP 1: Prep the pattern by removing the seam allowance.

STEP 2: Extend the bottom band by amount needed (if you made a muslin, you can measure the “gap” at the center front). Draw a straight line from the upper CF corner to the new bottom band length. Don’t forget to add your seam allowance back on!
